Coker Spring is located in Aiken, South Carolina.〔 〕 The spring is an important historic landmark for several reasons. First, it served as the source of drinking water for Aiken’s early settlers (circa 1830-1890). Second, the archeological remains in the area suggest that spring was probably a source of water for prehistoric area. Third, the spring was a regular stop on the stagecoach route from Abbeville to Charleston. It is possible to closely inspect this landmark by traveling short dirt road off of the main highway. Coker Springs was listed in the National Register of Historic Places on January 18, 1978.〔 ==References==
